The World Is Ending...

Howdy folks! Well, long time no update, so I'll hop on here and pontificate about pretty much nothing just to let you all know I'm not dead...yet...

So, it's been awefully mild here the last month.. Which means that when the groundhog comes out to see his shadow, he's going to freeze in place like a tongue on a metal pole. The other shoe HAS to be falling soon, and I'm sure we're going to be walking around in down coats and hats in May. Most likely right when the Little Angels annual motorcycle ride is.. So I'll freeze my nuts off. This happened last year, and since I was riding the Virago last year, with no windshield, I decided to skip it. I'll be able to tolerate the cool air a little better on the Goldwing, so short of actual falling snow, rain or rediculous low temps, I'll be making this ride. Unless of course I get ganked by having to go to work.

The eyes are doing okay. Left eye now has x-ray vision... really sharp and clear... Right eye, not so much.. Good acuity (still at LEAST 20/15...), but with some haze. Going to go see the doc for my month check-up in the next day or two and we'll see what's up with that.. Hopefully it goes away on its own.. I don't want to have to get zapped again, though if it means clear vision out of it, what the hell.. The hard part is over with (getting the flap cut). Inside of 6 months, it's possible to lift the existing flap and blast away some more.. Of course, since my vision is already damn good in that eye, there runs the risk of overcorrecting it if we go for more smoke-making, so who knows... Best case is it just gets better, which is the most likely scenario.

Really have been playing remarkably little poker... Not any troubles reading the screen, just lack of time in general to do anything.. I gotta get off this midnights crap. It's sucking my will to live.

The Eyes Have It

"There's going to be a little pressure, but this won't hurt" - My Lasik Doctor before putting the microkaratome on my eye.

Well, it's done. And for all the horror stories I've seen of Lasik, mine was pretty straight forward. One day after surgery I had 20/15 in both eyes. The procedure was not without some side effect though.. I have mildly dry eyes (normal and goes away) and my right eye is effected such that it's like I'm looking into a fog. This has also gotten better in the last day, and I'm told that it will go away as my eye heals. Strangely, this phenomena isn't occuring with my left eye with near the sevarity of my right, but I can see well enough to drive at night.

It's pretty bizzare to think what I just subjected my eyes too, and even more wild to think that, after all of that, I can see with amazing acuity.

Now if this right eye would just clear up!

No poker since last post.. It would be a strain to stare at a screen for the length of time I'd play.

Oh The Weather Outside Is Frightful....

Okay, so Christmas was fun in a sleep deprived, run into the ground sort of way. For those who don't know, I work midnights at the moment, and of course, no one else I know does... This is normally not a huge problem, but when it comes to the holidays this becomes an issue. Now if I were a bachelor I'd be home free. My family is spread all over the country, so we don't get together for Christmas, but my wife's family seems to want to get together 9 times in 7 days, and of course I have to go to every single fooking event. Sleep? I guess I'll sleep when I'm dead, which will be soon at this rate. I fully fell asleep behind the wheel on the way home yesterday. Only for a second, but imagine my discontent to find me closing rapidly on the car in front of me and not being able to recall where the hell that car came from! I think the short term solution to this is to catch a 15 or 30 minute nap in the quiet room at work before hitting the road.. At least it gives me enough boost to get home without nodding off.

Oh well.. I'm off them in April.. Just have to survive until then...

As for poker, I have for the moment laid off the tournaments. They were interesting, but I've sort of burned out on them for now. Instead I've taken to grinding the .50/1 tables at PokerStars. I rather like the interface of PokerStars better, but I need to get around to changing the "hey, bud, it's your turn" sound they have.. It's probably one of the most annoying sounds known to man.

Getting Lasik done tomorrow, so I'm probably going to not be playing any poker for a few days while I wait for my eyes to adjust.
